ABOUT THIS TRIP
IRIS is teaming up with Montana Alpine Guides to offer ice climbing in the beautiful Bozeman and Big Sky landscapes of Montana! All ice climbing levels are welcome to join in an empowering, supportive environment!
The Montana Rockies are a vast landscape of world-class ice climbs nestled into wooded canyons. Over the two days, you will experience two stunning ice climbing venues outside Bozeman and Big Sky.
From the novice to the steep ice aficionada, there are techniques and skills for all to learn from our phenomenal guides.
Two days allows you time to build climbing partnerships, enjoy a unique, local evening event, and craft your technique without losing too much steam in the process.

March 8:
8am: Meet @ Ousel Falls Parking Lot / Trailhead, Big Sky, MT
8am-4pm: Climb at Ousel Falls
March 9:
7am: Meet @ Montana Alpine Guides Office
7:30am-3pm: Climb in Hyalite Canyon
3:30pm: Trip Wrap-Up / Hang Out and Happy Hour; Venue TBD

Climbing Clothing
Base-layer Top: wool recommended (100-150 weight)
Breathable Insulation Layer (ie. OR Ascendant Hoodie or Patagonia R1)
Medium Weight Puff Jacket
Hard Shell Jacket (waterproof)
Large Puff Jacket (ie. Black Diamond Belay Parka)
Base-layer bottom: wool recommended (150-200 weight)
Soft-shell climbing pants (ie. OR Iceline Pant)
Puff Pants or Puff Skirt (optional: these are great for belaying and if you run cold)
2-3 Pairs of Gloves (lightweight to heavyweight: such as BD Terminator or CAMP Gecko Pro Ice)
Warm Hat (to be worn under a helmet)
Sunglasses (for sun and eye protection)
Wool Ski or Snowboard Socks (light to medium weight cushion)
